Call for Scholarship Applications
Two annual scholarships will be awarded by Lambda-Upsilon Chapter-at-Large each year. The scholarships were created in the spirit of the Sigma scroll which honors learning, and for professional endeavor which is one of the Sigma pillars.
The two scholarships will be in the amount of $500.00 each. Lambda-Upsilon members in good standing will be eligible to apply for them.
The following parameters will apply to the scholarships:
1.The scholarship funds must be applied to a professional nursing organization sponsored event or professional nursing certification.
2. Funds must be used within 6 months of being awarded either retrospectively or prospectively..
3. The application must be submitted between January 14-February 28th. Recipients will be notified in March.
4. Scholarships will be awarded based on the member being in good standing with the Chapter.
5. Scholarship committee members will determine the applicant awardees based on essay answer quality.
Applicants must submit a completed application and CV or resume (which includes scholarship, awards, education, publication) and the application questions (complete the questions in a short essay in 500 words or less).
Essay Questions (answer questions in 500 words or less)
- If awarded the scholarship, how do you intend to use the funds?
- What is your current contribution to the nursing profession?
- How would this scholarship impact this contribution and/or practice?
Funds are provided after receipts are obtained.
Value of the Scholarships: The value of the two proposed scholarships will be to enhance and forward the tenets of the Sigma promotion of nursing excellence. Sigma has celebrated education, leadership, and service, which are the focus of the scholarships. Awarding scholarship money will also serve to keep members engaged in the organization and in the enhancement of nursing as a profession. The Lambda Upsilon Chapter will fulfill its mission to promote members for higher service by helping them attend nursing events and receive education.
